Incoming Spring Treats at The Popcorn Lady

Spring is underway and we are enjoying the warmer weather here at The Popcorn Lady! As you may remember, I am personally partial to the cold, but the warmer weather means we can host some amazing events for you guys outside again!

Some of our upcoming events I’m looking forward to this month are a 1,000-person popcorn catering event at the Mercedez Benz Stadium and a 2,500-person Carnival event at Georgia Tech! We love getting out in our local Atlanta community and offering our delicious treats to attendees.

If you’re interested in booking an event with us this month, consider making it an event with our Fried Oreos Catering! Fried Oreos are the March Item of the Month, so you’ll get 15% off of their price if you confirm your booking (with a deposit) this month! We think these sweet fried snacks are perfect to welcome the springtime, what more could you ask for? Even better than National Oreo Day is this Thursday- March 6th!

Speaking of, here are some fun Oreo facts!

  1. Did you know that there is a street named Oreo Way in New York?

It was formerly known as West 15th (between 9th and 10th Avenues), and it was renamed to honor where the very first Oreo was made in the very first (of many to come) Nabisco factory!

  1. You can find the iconic cookie in more than 100 countries!

I am sure you know the cookie is popular, but did you realize that Oreos are so popular that there are Oreo-making factories in 18 countries all over the world? Talk about a cookie the world loves.

  1. (To no one’s surprise) Oreos are the most popular cookie of the 21st century!

Probably the least surprising fact in this post, especially after the first 2… Either way, it is quite a feat to earn such a title. The company that makes Oreos (and where we got these delicious facts), Mondelez International made over $36 billion in net revenue last year!

  1. Oreo’s initially released 2 flavors!

Alongside the classic chocolate cookie, in 1912 there was another Oreo flavor available- Lemon Meringue. It was not as popular so it was eventually discontinued. Personally, I am not surprised that it was one of the original flavors, as the lemon Oreos are one of my favorite flavors ;)

  1. How long do you think it takes to make an Oreo Cookie?

It takes TWO hours to make and bake an Oreo cookie! I would have never guessed that much time is dedicated to a singular Oreo, but it is a small price to pay for one iconic cookie.

I’ll leave you with one of my favorite Oreo commercials, from 2013
